Guest Blog Post!

Hello everyone, this is Ricky. I'm writing to keep you all up to date on Melissa's current situation. As many of you know, a typhoon hit her region of the Philippines pretty hard earlier this week and has left the whole town and Naga City without power or WiFi.

Melissa's was in Legazpi during the storm, but came back to learn that her house had taken some water because the roof got lifted due to the wind; however, her amazingly kind neighbors cleaned everything for her before she got back and fixed the roof!

Unfortunately, the Dela Cruzes' house collapsed and is not salvageable, but thankfully they are all safe. They stayed in a local chapel during the storm and now Marlon, MakMak, and Joseph are staying with Melissa until their new house gets built. Instead of using the donations from Joy and George and Tara's generous class to build another library, the donation will be used to help give a family a home after a devastating loss. Melissa is exploring options to build a more stable and durable structure for the family; however, this may exceed the current donations, so please be in contact with either one of us if you are interested in helping (I can be reached at richard.missett@gmail.com).

Melissa wanted me to let you know that she will follow up as soon as she can. In the meantime, I will be guest blogging! Thanks everybody!!

Ricky
