Yesterday afternoon was full of games for all the kids! It reminded me a lot of my own elementary school "Field Day" except a lot of the games were native Filipino games.
This was the coconut run! Kids had to run on coconut half shells in a relay race!
I love the difference in the ready positions of these boys! One so serious, the other so goofy!
And they're off!
Love this picture!
Teacher Joy getting her kids pumped up to compete for the Red team!
Look at that smile! So cute!
This game was so funny but I'm not sure how I feel about it...
The Kinder kids played this game: "Longest Line"
They had to use their clothing and anything they were wearing to make the longest line with their classmates.
THIS VIDEO is longer (so it had to go through YouTube) and it's SOO cute/weird! Must see!
Native basketball was one of my favorite games to watch yesterday! One kid from each team wore a basket on his back and ran around trying to keep the basket away from the opposing team.
Gwapo!
My beautiful student, Marjorie!
My grade 5 girls: Marjorie & Frances Anne!
Gangster MakMak!
One of my students, Teresa Mae, is in orange competing for our team in badminton!
Teresa Mae!
This game was called "Hitting the Pot" and that's exactly what they did. I think they did it wrong initially, though, because all four teams just walked up to the pots and took a swing. Two broke, two missed and all the kids stampeded like kids do under a pinata! After the pots were broken so easily, the teachers blindfolded the next kids for the other two pots.
My grade 5 students. Jumarvy looks fierce!
Ruel and Jumarvy getting ready to hit the pot.
Crowd control at its finest. Grade 2 boys held hands to keep everyone else away from the playing area.
My grade 5 students!
More grade 5 students from another section.
This game is called Patintero or 'water game'. There's a grid drawn on the ground where the defense stands: one defensive player for each line (not allowed to leave that line). The offense's goal is to have all of its players make it through the defense to the other side and back. If one offensive player gets tagged, the teams switch.
Boys badminton! I still don't understand how kids wear knit hats in the heat!
Oh that looks like so much fun but then I think about how stinkin hot it is there!! Everybody must have been roasting like crazy.
