"Private Beach" in Palawan

At the suggestion of the hotel staff in Palawan, we decided to hire one of their vans to a "private beach" that not many people knew of.  We were told it would take about 30-45 mins but ended up taking more than an hour on a ridiculously crazy road (pictures near the end).  It turns out that the beach was really private with only a couple local kids hanging around.
To get to the beach, we had to walk through the mangroves on this wooden bridge.

We made it and it was beautiful!

You can't tell from the pictures but the water was really, really clear and so warm!  It had a soft sandy bottom but there wasn't much to look at with our snorkel masks.
When we were on our way back to the hotel, Dad and I both confessed that we were constantly on the lookout for sharks while in the water... it would have been a perfect place for them!

Some cute kids we passed on the way back to the van... they loved our LifeSavers!

We ended up taking a different road than what our guide had taken the previous week and this is what we came upon!  This was apparently a better option than the other option (they said the bridge was out on the other road).  Our poor van chugged along and made it through with a thoroughly shaken load of passengers.

Stopped to get some cold drinks at a sari sari

It's not often in America that you pass a momma pup nursing her babies ON THE ROAD...
